1952 Penn Yan Cartopper

  • Offering this original, unrestored, “barn find”, 1952 Penn Yan Cartop. Nice clean condition interior, not original exterior paint. Owner believes it is original canvas bottom, but does admit there is an obvious fiberglass repair at transom-hull seam. By the time the original owner passed on, the boat needed re-canvasing, re-varnishing, etc. Suspect the canvas lining to be original.
  • There are marks on the transom where a small outboard was used on occasion.

  • All the bronze and brass hardware is in place, including the original oars.

  • The edge of the transom has is patched over the canvas skin.

  • Pictures show where some seat bolt attachments are loose and a repair by the original owner to a plank inside the starboard bow.

Originally purchased directly from Penn Yan in 1952!

This cartopper has a little back story: originally purchased directly from Penn Yan in 1952. it was used by the original owner into the 90’s, when he passed away. A family member, received it and stored it away for the next 30 years in the rafters of a garage. Recently purchased by the current owner on a whim, he now realizes it should move on to someone who can refinish it and love it like it should be.
